Date/Time TBD: In this class, participants will learn about the benefits of yoga through fun and engaging hands-on activities.  All yogis will participate in various poses (asanas), meditation techniques, and dances - so you'll want to dress comfortably.  "Kidding Around Yoga" incorporates games, activities, and songs to keep you excited and energized.  In addition, you'll learn important techniques to help with focus, attention, and patience.  What's your mantra?  Join us and find out!  Please note: If you have your own mat then please bring it; if not, one will be provided for you.

Gratitude Experiment

The Gratitude Experiment was a challenge presented to all students at HWP during our fall assembly.  This challenge was initiated during School Psychology Awareness Week in the hopes of fostering gratitude and appreciation within our school community.  Students responded with over 250 submissions, and in the end, had more than a 30% increase in happiness after completing their acts of gratitude (ranging from "unhappy" to "really happy").  Thank you to the PTO for supplying the "Spirit Sticks" and to all students who participated!

This photo depicts some of the wonderful ways students at HWP expressed their gratitude towards someone special in their lives.  We were very excited and proud of our students who participated in this challenge and hope that the enthusiasm continues throughout the school year.  Go HWP students!

Wishes for Wilsons

This powerpoint was made after one of our HWP students was diagnosed with Wilson's Disease.  Wilson's is a rare genetic and treatable disorder that results in excess Copper in the body.  This student presented a PowerPoint to his whole grade to provide them with more information on this rare disease, so they could better understand his symptoms.  Wishing wells were placed in each homeroom in his grade, and in 2 weeks the fundraiser was completed.  The student body was generous with their donations which go to the much needed research efforts in learning more about this disease.  The students in his grade generously donated a total of $454.05 for this cause!!!
