Horace Porter School is proud to sponsor a chapter of The National Junior Art Honor Society (http://www.arteducators.org/community/nahs/About) for its 7th and 8th grade students. NJAHS is designed to inspire middle school students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art, and to magnify the innovation, skills, and scholarship of the Porter art program.
Our NJAHS scholars volunteer their time, bringing art-related activities to fellow students, parents, and town residents. Porter NJAHS students have produced public murals, designed and painted stage sets, provided lessons for very young artists, coordinated in-school art shows, attended statewide art shows and supported school fundraising efforts.
Upcoming NJAHS projects include a painting night, a community art show, and an “art buddy" program with younger Porter students. We welcome ideas and suggestions about how we can support the Horace Porter School and the Columbia communites.
