Life Skills

Welcome to Life Skills!

Life Skills is part of the electives rotation at Porter. In life skills, students are introduced to foods and nutrition, sewing activities, child development and character education that will help them learn basic life skills to take care of themselves in the real world.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Roselle Jardim and I am the new Life Skills teacher at Porter. I am very excited about joining the family here. I am a graduate of the State of Connecticut Alternate Route to Certification Program in Family and Consumer Science (FCS). Being a life skills teacher is actually my second career! My first career was raising my own large family  (my youngest is now a student at UCONN). During that time, I was a piano teacher, Sunday school teacher, volunteer, licensed home daycare provider and substitute teacher. I have two beautiful grandsons that I adore – Luca age three years and Nico who is one years old. I love the colors pink and purple, hosting parties for my big family & spending lots of time with them, and playing the piano. I am happily married to a choral music teacher and we live with three of our children. My goal is to equip students with life skills that they can apply immediately to their lives to help them become self-sufficient and confident individuals. Besides that, my hope is that they will enjoy these skills now, and even later as a hobby or career!
