Welcome to Horace W. Porter's

Technology Department

Technology Education Classes:

Students in grades 5-8 are offered a technology education program which provides real world "hands-on" technological experiences.  Middle school students will design, construct and actively engage in applications that will allow them to learn how to use technology to solve problems.  This will enrich their science and math skills and will encourage integration of relevant content.

Computer Classes:

Students in grades K-4 have regular visits to the elementary lab where direct guided instruction is offered, as well as guidance with using “Blue Ribbon” software to support our math and language arts curricula.  Our goal is to have computer skills learned by students integrated throughout all curricular content areas.

Children acquire information via the Internet, learn keyboard skills and utilize computers in a variety of their educational experiences at Porter School.

Students in grades 5 & 8 may to choose Computer Extension class.

Grade 6 & 7 students may choose Technology Education Extension.

Each class has an overall focus, but covers many skills.
