Elementary Music

  • Students in elementary grade levels at HWP will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of musical activities which they can connect to their everyday experiences. Students will be exposed to music through cultural and historical contexts by playing many different instruments, singing, and movement. Students will learn the basic concepts and fundamentals of music such as beat, rhythm, pitch, and musical notation.

Instrumental & Vocal Music

  • Students at HWP will have the opportunity to start band in grade 5. Grade 5 band students will have lessons 1x per week for 35 minutes. Middle school band students will have band lessons in small groups 1x every other week during WIN. Students will also have full band rehearsals every Tuesday afternoon, and will meet for sectionals once per week in larger groupings. We hope to have our first concert sometime in January of 2022!

  • Students at HWP can join choir in grades 6, 7, and 8. Choir meets on Thursdays during study hall. Students do not need experience to join the choir. Students will learn to sing a variety of songs of different genres and cultures.
