Welcome to Life Skills!
Life Skills is now part of every middle school student's curriculum. Students have life skills every day for one quarter (45 days) each year. In life skills, depending on the grade, students are introduced to foods and nutrition, sewing activities, and child development.
Hello, my name is Mrs. Roselle Jardim and I am the Life Skills teacher at Porter. I am very excited about teaching all the middle school students every year. I am a graduate of the State of Connecticut Alternate Route to Certification Program in Family and Consumer Science (FCS). Being a life skills teacher is actually my second career! My first career was raising my own large family (my youngest is a recent graduate of UCONN). During that time, I was a piano teacher, Sunday school teacher, volunteer, licensed home daycare provider and substitute teacher. I have three beautiful grandsons that I adore – Luca age six years, Nico who is four years old, and Elias, two years old, and a beautiful granddaughter Named Nadege Roselle. I love the colors pink and purple, hosting parties for my big family & spending lots of time with them, and playing the piano. I am happily married to a choral music teacher and we live with two of our children.
My goal in teaching is to equip students with life skills that they can apply immediately to their lives to help them become self-sufficient and confident individuals. Besides that, my hope is that they will enjoy these skills now, and even later as a hobby or career!
