Reading/Language Arts

Tier 2 and Tier 3 Reading/Language Arts SRBI take place in addition to the regularly scheduled LA time.  A student is determined to be in need of these levels of Reading/Language Arts support in several ways.  District assessments (i-Ready) are given school wide in September, February, and May.  Discussions with classroom teachers are ongoing and referrals are noted.  If the data shows that the students has significant weaknesses, individual diagnostic testing is done by SRBI teachers.  Meetings with administration take place in September, February, and June to review data and make placement decisions.  At this time students may need to begin initial or continued Tier 2 support, move to Tier 3 support implemented by an SRBI interventionist, or be exited from support services.

Instructional materials consist of a combination of resources in text form or online, individualized to meet each students' needs.  The main resource is Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System.  This program is used along with the websites RAZ kids, ReadWorks, Reading A-Z and News ELA.
