PowerSchool

PowerSchool is the student information system that Columbia Public Schools uses to manage information such as grades, attendance, demographics, courses, etc. PowerSchool is web-based so information can easily, but safely, be shared with parents and students.

Parents of students in Grades PK8 have access to their child's attendance and demographic information. Parents and students in grades 58 also have access to student grades and assignments.

Parents will need to know their login ID in order to gain access to the Parent Portal.

How to Create a Parent Portal Account

Step 1

Click the here for our PowerSchool Parent Page and click the Create Account tab.

Step 2

Fill in the form with the appropriate information to begin creating your account. All the fields found on this page are required. User Name and Password are case sensitive.


Step 3

Link your children's accounts to your new parent account by entering the student's first name, their Access ID, Access Password, and your relationship to the student. Access ID's and Password can be found in the letter that was sent home when your child registered for school. If you did not receive this information please contact Tammy Nye at (860) 228-9493 ext. 161 or email her at tnye@hwporter.org.

Step 4

Click the Enter button. You will now be taken to a sign in page. Log in with the username and password you created. If you need further assistance please contact Tammy Nye at tnye@hwporter.org.

Please Remember...

All access ID's and Passwords are Case Sensitive.

How to Set Up Email Notifications

For Students in Grades 5 – 8 Only

Parents of Middle School Students can receive automated email notifications from PowerSchool showing a summary of your child’s current grades, attendance and/or a detail report showing assignment scores for each class. To set this up, first log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal using your Parent Access ID & Password. Then follow the directions below:

1. Choose “Email Notifications” from the parent log in menu selection.

2. Complete the following questions on the “Email Notifications Page.”

a. What information would you like to receive?

b. How often would you like to receive this information?

c. Enter an email address that you would like this information emailed to.

d. Check the "send now" box to have an email sent with this information immediately.
